Our group instantly agreed to research the unique qualities of the Virginia Highlands. We explored the areas of the community such as dining, shopping, art & culture, and housing. After doing a lot of research and visiting the neighborhood, I have been able to see what a special part of the city that it is. It is like a traditional neighborhood oasis sin the middle of a sprawling city. You receive all the great qualities of a good community such as narrow sidewalks, straight-grid like streets, and corner stores, but you also have an amazing view of the Atlanta skyline when you look up. The community makes that a point. In their neighborhood sign, there is a picture of houses and trees in the foreground with the beautiful Atlanta skyscrapers in the background. The Virginia Highlands is has a lot to offer to a family. The houses are antique and beautiful with plenty of yard space. Also, there is walkability and accessibility. There is no trace of huge parking lots nor mega malls. Rather, the streets are lined with small boutiques and locally owned galleries and restaurants. The community is a special place involved in and is a treasure hidden in the big city. If you are new to Atlanta, I highly suggest you check this traditional neighborhood out! -Amy
